It is vital that you never tell your kids, ‘because I said so’ as a justification for any of your actions. Am I A Good Parent? Why Is My Child A Deviant?

Parent's Guide

As parents, we are our children’s first educators. Their first “words” are sounds we repeat to them, like “Mama” or “Dada”. They learn by listening and observing. They have the ability to send back sounds until they form into semi-coherent words. They also have the ability to express what they feel or what they want, based on whatever communication mechanism they develop at a certain age.

How To Start Sensitive Conversation With Your Teen (And How To Keep It Going)

Uncategorized

Admit it. It can be so hard to communicate with teenagers.

Their attention is normally focused on things that usually annoy parents – smart phone, television, social media, or play station. Sometimes, they even pretend like they can’t hear you by turning up the volume of the music. What makes it even harder for parents is the fact that teenagers are very secretive and sensitive to topics – such as academics, love, dating, sex, relationships, depression, and drugs. Seriously, how can you talk to your teens about these sensitive topics if you can’t even make them talk about how their day was?

Juvenile Curfew Laws Explained

Curfew Violation
Source: discovermagazine.com

Juvenile curfew laws are ordinances within a city, county, and state that forbid minors—those under 18 years of age—to roam around the city streets on their own or stay inside business establishments without their parents or guardians with them. The law is pretty basic and that means no minor must be found loitering streets and alleys at a certain time, usually between 10 pm to 6 am, depending on the city or state. But, the same rule applies – if these minors are caught, there will be penalties and punishments.

Why is curfew necessary?

Crimes involving teenagers are at an all-time high. These teenagers get into trouble when they are out at night with their so-called friends, their “crew,” and the “gang.”This is especially true when teens, by virtue of peer pressure or lack of parental attention, venture into alcohol or substance abuse and would end up having to seek help for addiction.  In order to control incidents involving minors, this curfew was practiced countrywide. The point here is to save these children from getting harmed. That is the main agenda as to why major cities in the US enforce this law.

Curfews

Curfews and Consequences

Parent's Guide

Parenting is not simply about being a mother and a father in the family. It has many obligations. And it is a crucial role.

Ideally, we want our children to be the best that they can be while we, ourselves, are imperfect beings. No, I’m not suggesting that you have to be perfect in the hopes that your offspring will emulate you. The hardest part for you is to accept the fact that they are individuals, unique and different as they should be. The parent who attempts to make little carbon copies of themselves with their kids will ultimately fail. If we get angry, our children may see this and get angry, too. Therefore, it may be better to seek online counseling for ways on how to control anger, if this is a problem.

Giving Appropriate Curfews For Your Teens

Parent's Guide

With this new-found freedom, teenagers tend to believe that they can do anything now that they are not children anymore. They want to spend longer periods of time with their peers. They are also in the process of discovering the used-to-be off-limits activities for children such as parties, sleep-overs and overnight trips. As parents, we want our teens to enjoy their lives the fullest. Even so, we are still responsible for their safety. Hence, teens still need curfews to keep them on the leash and to avoid any mishaps from happening in the middle of the night.
